About the memorial: Within the church, just inside the church on the right hand (south) wall of the nave. A brown marble tablet, inset woth a white marble centre, surmounted in relief by the crest of Hessian, and commemorating in raised lettering, the memory of 84 soldiers from three Hessian regiments who died of disease in 1794 and were buried in the churchyard.

To the honoured memory of the eighty-four HESSIAN SOLDIERS of the Regiments: Prince Carl Lossberg and Gensdarmes also of the Fusilier Bataillon Prueschenck who died of disease in the Isle of Wight during the campaign in the year 1794 and and were buried in the churchyard. This tablet was place here by The Landgraf A. F. Hesse April 1906
