About the memorial: A triangular cross sectioned, triangular, block built plinth with a sloping top standing on a square paved plot with a dark grey annulus around the memorial with Society name. On the top of the plinth is stone carved wreath and cross and on its side is a carved shape of a 3 winged propellor. IWM Register - An irregularly-shaped stone of remembrance, broadly pyramid in dimensions, constructed of large blocks of stone (possibly Portland Stone). The top of the stone has a flattened sloping face on which there is a carved representation of the Society's emblem of a lion. The front face of the stone has the insignia of RNEBS with a commemoration carved into the stone below. A carving of a ship's propellor is on one side face, a flash of lightning on the other. The memorial is placed on a square flagstone base of the same stone, within a narrow circular band of black stone (possibly granite) which bears the name of the society.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.
