(The angel is possibly Archangel Michael as the angel appears to be on top of serpentine carvings.) The column is composed of four sections: the bottom section and two top sections are individual circular shapes providing support for a narrow central section adorned with stone shields representing the founding regiments of the Yorkshire Regiment (including the Green Howards, the Prince of Wales's Own Regiment of Yorkshire and the Duke of Wellington's (West Riding) Regiment).
