  • First World War (1914-1918)
About the memorial: Addition to family gravestone J176 which is a black marble slab. From the internal plaque (WMO/171040) this is determined to be James Thompson Scott. To find the gravestone it is necessary to use the plot plan which is available in book form in the Church and take that book out to site, as it is impossible to describe the location in this heavily overgrown Churchyard. An expanded version of the book is also available in Whitehaven Archives. This was compiled in 1982 since when the steeply sloping Churchyard has become totally overgrown to the point where it is dangerous to explore it.
