Sacred to the memory of Leonard Redmayne, Lieutenant HM 14th Light Dragoons, eldest son of the late William Trasure Redmayne Esq, of Burrow and Hazlerigge who was killed in action with the rebels at Mundesore, East Indies, on 23rd November 1857 aged 23 years. He fell gallantly charging with the squadron under the command of Lieut Leith, a large body of the enemy who were threatening the rear of the force under Brigadier Stuart's command, which was engaged hotly to the front.
