About the memorial: Scottish War Memorials Project (see link) says - "A mural tablet and baptismal font of Sicilian marble were erected in this Church to commemorate those members of the congregation who died in WW1." However, "Hilltown Church,which was in Alexander/North Wellington St, closed in 1970,was used as a warehouse and subsequently demolished.No indication of where the memorial went,if at all.Congregation divided between Clepington Church and Wishart Memorial Church." No further information since 2010.
