About the memorial: This First World War Memorial lists the 77 members of The Gresham Club who served in The Great War 1914-1919. The top nine names are of those who gave their lives for their country. The Gresham Club was founded in 1843 as a dining club for the professional classes of the City of London and named originally after Sir Thomas Gresham, a celebrated Elizabethan merchant who founded the Royal Exchange. The Club moved to Abchurch Lane in 1915.
