About the memorial: Standard Circular 'Blue Plaque' with a representation, in gold, of the VC at top centre. All lettering is white and raised. The Government commemorative paving stone at the Cenotaph at the Old Steine was unveiled earlier the same day. He has also been commemorated on 3 local buses-Fleet number 647 - Scania Omnidekka carried name since March 2005 on Coaster 12, in January 2007 name moved to bus 626 in Metro 1 livery, after originally having a spelling error for a day (Beale). Metro 1 branding removed March 2012. Bus sold in September 2016. Name reintroduced on 806 Mercedes Streetdeck on Route 1 - from December 2016
