About the memorial: Proposed to carry out the following works to the Parish Church of St. George Stamford as a memorial of the Great War namely: To provide and erect behind the altar of the said parish church a Reredos and Retable with panelling of oak and also to erect on the North and South walls of the chancel of the said parish church oak panelhas been left exposed. In two tiers, the upper tier is finished with carvings in a Tudor style with roses. The Reredos is in the same style but rises higher, .the memorial panel forms an extension to the panelling on the south side, and measures 183cm by 76cm Note: This church contains one of the very few “north end” altars left in the country and still apparently in use as such.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
