About the memorial: The ornate memorial stood in the grounds of this orphanage, which became an Industrial School in 1914 and an institution for poor catholic boys from 1929. But it disappeared at some point, with the building being first being requisitioned by the Air Ministry during the war, then being used by the British Overseas Airways Corporation before being demolished and replaced by office blocks. By 1953 both the buildings and the memorial had disappeared when revisited by some former residents. The pin position shown is speculative. I found a 1895 map but could not correlate it with today's layout. No relevant organisation seems to have any knowledge of the fate of the memorial.
