About the memorial: Vertical rectangular stone with Gothic top, sides narrow slightly below top before widening again toward base. Deep cut depiction of various leaves in basically semi circular panel at top of stone, inscribed self coloured lettering beneath. Heavy staining at base of stone.

Refers to:- Bertus John Van-Elk. Private 1593. 4th Battalion, Lincolnshire Regiment. Killed in action 13th October 1915. Son of Sebastiaan Jacobus and Mary Van-Elk (nee Carroll). Born 1895 Woodstock, SRY and enlisted Spalding, Lincs. Commemorated as missing on Loos Memorial. Panel 31 to 34. Also commemorated Spalding War Memorial and Spalding St Mary and St Nicholas.
