About the memorial: Memorial to Major Fearnley Anderson, DSO, MC, Seaforth Highlanders. Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst. Commissioned into the Seaforth Highlanders on 22 Oct 1902. Married Rosamund Sophie Porter Apr-Jun 1911 in Kensington, London. Served throughout WW1. Awarded the Military Cross (MC). Awarded the DSO when commanding the 8th Battalion Seaforth Highlnaders (London Gazette 3 Jun 1919). Killed aged 39 years along with Major Norman Orr, DSO, by two tribesmen near Landi Kotal when they were both serving with the 2nd Battalion Seaforth Highlanders, out walking in civilian clothes. The tribesmen were subsequently captured and shot. They are also commemorated on a memorial plaque and stained glass window in the Fort George Regimental Chapel, Old Military Road, Ardersier, Inverness.
