About the memorial: The memorial was placed here when Poole Grammar School moved to this site in 1966. It contains names from the Poole School Cross (WMO 97805) and from the Poole and Parkstone Grammar Schools WW2 memorial (WMO 97804) which was lost when the former building was demolished. Poole and Parkstone Grammar schools were both co-educational until 1937 so there are names from both schools, though Poole GS is now a boys school and Parkstone girls.
