About the memorial: The school moved to this site in 1966. The Poole School WW1 memorial cross (WMO/97805) was left at the original site which became Seldown School, and was moved to St James's Church in Poole when Seldown School closed in 1986. The WW2 memorial board for Poole and Parkstone Grammar Schools (WMO/97804) was brought to the new school but was destroyed in a fire in 1971 while in storage. This new memorial was placed here in 1972 with conributions from the Old Grammarians Association, the school and the parents. It contains names from the Poole School Cross and the Poole and Parkstone Grammar Schools WW2 board. Poole and Parkstone Grammar schools were both co-educational until 1937 so there are names from both schools, though Poole GS is now a boys school and Parkstone GS girls.
