About the memorial

Sited at the junction of Morley Street, Prince's Way and Godwin Street.

The memorial was controversial when erected because of the inclusion of soldiers 'in action'. The bayonets were damaged in 1969 and have not been replaced.

The memorial stands in front of a memorial to Queen Victoria
