Comments:
Following the visit of the War Memorial Trust to the site on 10.07.17, I wanted to put the following on record: The London Diocese is working with the local authority to bring the listed church building (gutted by fire ten years ago) back into use by converting it into residential flats. Planning permission has been obtained for this conversion, and work will commence in due course. It is intended that the war memorial will remain in it's current position (as it will fall within the common parts of the building), and the memorial will be restored as part of the conversion of the building. Due to the poor condition of the memorial, restoration may actually involve a carefully created exact replica. The Diocese has added two additional photos (in addition to the one originally posted by the War Memorials Trust. Dimensions: 540mm wide x 310mm high (it projects approx 25mm out from the brick face) Location: The memorial is on the rear wall of the alter area in the East of St. Saviours Church. The left had edge of the plaque is 320mm from the finished face of the north wall of the alter area. The bottom edge of the plaque is 1380mm form the finished floor Material: Our stone specialist has confirmed that the memorial is made of Carrara Marble. Relevant Planning Applications: Church Planning Permission - PA/13/01590 dated 31/07/2014 (as amended by NMA ref: PA/17/01876) Church Listed Building Consent - PA/17/00348 dated 24/02/2017 Discharged Condition 6c (including salvage strategy for memorial) - PA/17/00612
