Comments:
According to the report by a conservation accredited professional who specialises in paper-based works "The dust seals are failing and are stained with rust from the pins holding the artwork in place. The hangings have failed. The glass is old and is marked by bat urine and faeces. Within the frame the artwork is executed on good quality paper. The paper is cockled and where it is in contact with the support board it has discoloured. Dead thrips are visible within the frame and the paper has been attacked by silverfish. The silverfish have eaten the surface of the paper in places. Fortunately they have not badly affected the picture or the writing. The magenta in the print has faded due to exposure to light. The print is not evenly adhered and so disfiguring wrinkles are present. Some damage has also occurred to the print at some date when unglazed.* As a result of this survey a preliminary application for a grant to support the conservation of this memorial has been submitted to the War Memorials Trust.
