The inscription is incised on the hexagonal plinth. It is located at the top of the face directed towards Moulsham Street, in the same font size and style as the names. It reads: IN MEMORY OF / THE MEN OF MOULSHAM / WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR / 1914 - 1919. There is a incised line under the inscription and the names continue.

Many of the names on the memorial are illegible and there is no known record of those who fell that is complete and accurate. It is likely that several initials were incorrectly inscribed on the memorial or omitted. This list below is based on the research of Andrew Begent and others, representing the corrected names, not those originally inscribed. The IWM record states there were there were 87 men commemorated on the memorial.
