About the memorial: A wooden, gabled, intrically carved crucifix cross set on a square granite plinth with angled top corners, crest and smooth, inset front face showing dedication and standing on a 3 step base. It is set in a dry stone, walled enclosure with ornamental, cast iron gates having a dedication in raised gold lettering on its cross bars plus roundels of wreath with "RIP" at its centre on each gate. The memorial, south-west of the village at the junction of the road to Hampen, is a wooden Calvary erected in 1919 to commemorate members and relatives of the Harter family killed in the First World War.The Harters were Roman Catholic owners of Salperton Park and lords of the manor of Salperton.
