About the memorial: The war memorial in the Norfolk village of Colkirk is a tapering marble obelisk on a plinth on a four-stepped base. On the front face of the obelisk is a laurel wreath carved in half relief, plus some inscriptions. The names of 16 fallen from WW1, and one from WW2, are inscribed on carved stone in the form of a scroll which stretches across the front of the plinth. The memorial stands on a grassed area surrounded by a path of paving slabs and a low post and chain fence at the junction of Church Road and Market Hill. Shingle is laid over the wider area. In front of the memorial is a stone flower holder engraved with the words Lest We Forget.
