About the memorial: SP3250 BANBURY STREET, Kineton1901-1/14/238 (South side) War memorial within a raised surrounding wall within mown green, East of house next to Lewis the Butcher. GV II War memorial. c1920. Designed in the style of Brigstock, Northamptonshire, market cross. The memorial has a tall multi-sectioned column with ball on top supporting cross. This is set on a square ashlar hornton stone plinth with panels listing the dead of World War 1 which in turn stands on a 4 stepped base, the lowest one with rounded nosing. Inscriptions to the dead of World War 2 were added to the third step. An ogee-moulded capping forms the base of stop-chamfered shaft with egg-and-dart cornice. Head of column has shield or crest to each face and segmental-arched cornice; ball finial supporting an iron cross. An important feature in the village. Listing NGR: SP3363350982

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
