About the memorial: Five-stepped square base surmounted by a plinth & rough-hewn granite column with finial. Leaded inscription & names on tablets around sides of plinth. The whole memorial stands on a shallow raised & shaped base surrounded by eight smaller pillars. Dedicated to the men who were employed at Polesworth Pooley Lane Colliery and who fell in WW1.
