They failed to annex Nepal but were impressed by the tenacity of Gurkha soldiers and invited them to volunteer for the East India Company. This they did and went on to serve as loyal soldiers in the armies of Nepal, India and Britain. The Gurkhas are famous for their kukris, a distinctive heavy knife with a curved blade. Their service history is extensive including participation in WWI & WWII. The plaques show: The campaign history of the Brigade A List of Regiments A List of Battle Honours.
