About the memorial: The stone plinth is 190cms and the sculpted head is 60cms high. The bust was sculpted by R J Emerson. The name of the ship Floandi also appears on his capband. The Floandi was an armed Italian drifter used to blockade the port of Cattano to prevent the Austrian navy's use of the Adriatic. The ship was attacked by the Austrians. Harris was awarded the Italian navy's award for bravery. Notice of his heroic action appears in the supplement to the London Gazette 29.8.1917 and his name also appears on the war memorial at St Philips church Penn Fields. On the front of the plinth is a metal plaque showing him slumped at his desk after death.
