  • First World War (1914-1918)

About the memorial: The war memorial in the Surrey village of Charlwood is a plain cross set on moulding above a plinth on a two-stepped base. On the front face of the plinth is carved a laurel wreath in half relief, and below this are inscriptions. The names of the fallen are recorded in lead lettering on the front of the higher base, on a small plaque on the angled face of the lower base, and on the sides of the plinth. The memorial stands in a raised area on a paved base surrounded by a low circular brick wall topped by back iron railings. The memorial is in the churchyard of St Nicholas.
