About the memorial: A robust, stone, lancet arch supported by corinthian pillars on either side, with a sill and an inset brass plaque. The top part has a roundel at the centre showing profile of the Major which is surrounded by a pentamerous. (5 part), gold backed, flower decorated set of "petals". This is further surrounded by a series of flower & leaf relief decorated arches. The brass plaque has a decorated border with the regimental crest of the Cameronians and dedication in black, old style, incised, "blackletter" font.
