About the memorial: A Portland stone obelisk on the north side of the forecourt. The memorial is Grade II listed and stands in the grounds of the Grade I listed Derby Grammar School, St Helen's House. The list description suggests that the memorial may have been designed by Bloomfield. It commemorates the fallen from the school. It was originally designed as a memorial to those from World War I with World War II names being added later. In 2012 War Memorials Trust was informed that the site is currently being redeveloped.
