About the memorial: Stone pillar with four sides and laurel wreaths carved into each of the sides. The memorial commemorates the workers at Brunner Mond's Silvertown factory that died in both world wars; it also commemorates 16 employees killed in the Silvertown TNT factory explosion in January 1917.
