Can you help?

In 2019, WMT gave a grant towards this war memorial. As it has been a number of years since the grant was given, we would like an up-to-date condition survey and photographs to be added to this war memorial record. Can you help?

Status: On original site
Type: Freestanding
Location: External
Description: Obelisk
Materials:
  • Stone Stone (any)
Conflicts:
  • First World War (1914-1918)
  • Second World War (1939-1945)
About the memorial: From IWM: 'A stone monument comprising an obelisk on a complex arrangement of plinths and pedestals with bronze plaques on three sides. The dressed sandstone obelisk bears a painted carved stone decoration of a Cross of St George in a roundel with scrollwork margins and surmounts a plinth with hollow moulded faces and a die with moulded cap and base stones and with recessed panels on its four faces, three of which bear bonze plaques with raised inscriptions in upright capital lettering. This surmounts a base of three steps or plinths of dressed ashlar sandstone on a battered pedestal of rough hewn ashlar sandstone. The whole rests on a platform built into the hillside and comprising battered ashlar sandstone walls and sandstone paving flags.'
