About the memorial: A square, wheel cross surmounting a tapered obelisk column, the front of which is adorned with a bronze sword, point uppermost. The obelisk sits upon an octagonal plinth, the front face bearing a circular bronze plaque with the general commemoration for WW1 in English: on the opposite face is a similar plaque with commemoration in Welsh. There are two similar, but plain plaques in the intermediate faces. The obelisk and plinth sit upon a five-tiered octagonal base, which has four buttresses, the outer vertical faces of each bear a bronze plaque listing the names (65 on each of the first 3 plaques and 63 on the last), in alphabetical order, of 258 men who died in WW1. Surname and initials only are given: no ranks of units. (Note: 220 of these names are also commemorated on a stone tablet in the adjacent Cathedral, which also gives ranks and units, and Vincent, J. T. C (2nd Lt) has his own memorial tablet and originial battlefield cross). On the top of the front buttress is a bronze plaque with the general commemoration for those who fell in WW2. On the top of each of the two adjacent buttresses is a bronze plaque, commemorating 95 men who died in WW2 (48 on one plaque and 47 on the other). These list the surname followed by the full first names, with those who died serving with the Merchant Navy annotaed M.N. The whole memorial sits in a pavement of stone flags and red slabs and is surrounded by metal bollards linked by chain, painted black. Either side of the main memorial stands a cluster of boulders within a raised stone circular platform within the centre of which is a tablet with the phrase: 'They shall not grow old .. etc', the left hand one in Welsh, the right hand one in English.
