About the memorial: The memorial is sited at the road junction at the entrance to the town, opposite St James' Church. Wheel cross on plinth, mounted on rectangular stone base. Black lettering. Sword in relief on front face of cross. Short run of steps up to base of memorial. It was dedicated on the afternoon of Sunday 16th May 1920 conducted by Rev. D F P Durnford M.A., rector of Sotterley, in the much regretted absence of the vicar Rev. A. Scott Thompson due to illness. The memorial was unveiled by Grace Elizabeth and Lilian Larter, daughter and sister respectively, of one of the fallen men.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
