About the memorial: The memorial was designed by J J Davison, engineer & surveyor of Wigton and the sculptors were Messrs Bower & Florence of Aberdeen. It is made up of two colours of polished granite - the red from Peterhead Quarry and the grey from Toms Forest Quarry. It stands 12ft high on a terraced base and immediately below the domed crown is fixed a bronze laurel wreath on each of the four sides.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

This monument commemorates those who at the call of King and Country, left all that was dear to them, endured hardness, faced danger, and finally passed out of sight of men by the path of duty and self-sacrifice, giving up their own lives that others might live in freedom.
