About the memorial: The memorial is in two parts. The first part is formed of a square pedestal surmounted by a winged figure depicting the Angel of Peace. Winged wall with names carved on it is placed to the side of it. Dedicatory plaque placed at the top of the centre section of the wall. Above it is the town crest flanked by two Maltese crosses. Listing for memorial below: 954/0/10031 CHURCHFIELDS 16-DEC-04 Tablets recording the names of the dea d from two World Wars adjacent to St M ary and All Saints Church GV II War Memorial. 1922. Designed by G.H.Goodwin and executed by George Brown & Sons. Limestone with bronze plaque to the centre and metal railings. The tablets bearing the names of the dead are arranged against a curved back wall from which 2 spur walls with benches project at right angles. Against these further tablets were placed recording the 146 men and women who lost their lives in World War II. To the centre of the memorial the walling is ramped at either side of a small, semi-circular pediment. Below are two inscribed quotations: 'THESE DIED THE NOBLEST DEATH / A MAN MAY DIE / FIGHTING FOR GOOD AND RIGHT / AND LIBERTY / AND SUCH A DEATH IS IMMORTALITY' [John Oxenham] and 'SO THEY PASSED OVER & ALL THE TRUMPETS / SOUNDED FOR THEM ON THE OTHER SIDE' [John Bunyan]. One part of a fine War Memorial which was set up in the centre of Kidderminster to commemorate the many people who gave their lives in both World Wars. The memorial forms a group with the Sculpture of the Angel of Peace, Churchfields, Kidderminster and the Church of All Saints, Churchfields, Kidderminster [q.v.]. GV II War Memorial. 1922. Designed by R.A.Drury, R.A.. Bronze figure with Limestone plinth of square section. The sculpture represents the Angel of Peace alighting on the world holding the Child of the Future in her left hand and an olive branch in her right hand. To the front of the plinth is a laurel wreath in bronze and a bronze plaque with a relief showing a recumbent man who has given his life being crowned by Immortality while figures of a widow and an orphan pay tribute. One part of a fine War Memorial set up in the centre of Kidderminster to commemorate the many local people who gave their lives in both World Wars.
