About the memorial: A Botonne cross with a Celtic disc, with cross carved in relief on main face. A sword of sacrifice in relief on column below cross. Set upon a stone base with carved inscription, upon an octagonal five-stepped base. A sailing ship and St. George slaying the dragon is carved upon the base on the 12 O'clock and 6 O'clock faces respectively.
