About the memorial: Drinking fountain commemorating two men from the village who died serving in the Second Anglo-Boer War erected in 1909. Inscription is in English. The memorial was first erected further west along the A5 set into the wall. In this position it was in grave danger from the traffic and had over the years received many knocks. In 1995 Mr Charlie Mellish, Chairman, Llangollen Rural Community Council began a campaign to have the memorial moved and restored. In conjunction with the Anglo-Boer War Memorials Project funds were raised for the memorial to be moved and restored so it is now located just east of St David's Church. The memorial was moved in Autumn 1995 and restoration was completed in June 1996. Incorporated into flanks of the memorial are stone war memorial tablets from the village's Methodist Chapel for the First and Second World Wars. The chapel had been demolished and residents ensured the tablets were saved. The inscriptions are in Welsh.Addition details: The memorial is formed of green and white porcelain. Grade II listed by Cadw 11 June 1998
