About the memorial: This memorial stands within the grounds of Pollokshaws Burgh Hall. The face of the monument looks away from the hall, with a small fenced off area encircling it. The names of men from the local area who served during World War One are inscribed upon the memorial. The memorial was unveiled by Sir John Gilmour, Bart on Saturday 28 October 1922. Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pollokshaws war memorial takes the form of a Celtic cross, built of granite and erected within the grounds of the Burgh Hall.  It contains the names of 350 fallen soldiers.  The movement for the erection of the monument was initiated by the Civic Guild, who were authorized by a public meeting to carry it through.  The unveiling ceremony on Saturday afternoon was attended by a very large company.  Sir John Stirling-Maxwell, Bart. of Pollok, presided, and the unveiling ceremony was performed by Sir John Gilmour, Bart., D.S.O., who delivered a short address. The Rev. John Macfarlane, Pollokshaws Parish Church, and the Rev. F. D. Langlands, C.T.F., Eastwood Parish Church, conducted the devotions. The guard of honour was drawn from the 5/6th Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders.
