About the memorial: Rectangular, stone structure width 1650 height 2220, depth 840 tapering to 500cm. Front face has inscription panel, decorated in Gothic style at the top to resemble a church window. Names inscribed in black. Simple, rectangular plaque added below for WWII. In between the two names panels is a metal plaque identifying the memorial as having been originally sited in the now derelict Moorlands factory at the other side of the road. The memorial has stone flags to the front and the two sides. The whole is set within a small park with trees, some shrubs and flowers and a bench. A metal chain has been affixed at the base of the memorial to secure a wreath.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

In memory of those workers of this factory who lost their lives in the Great War 1914 - 1918. This memorial was recovered from the Morlands Factory site nearby and re-erected at this place by people who cared to ensure that the young men who gave their lives are not forgotten. Lest we forget. November 1998.
