About the memorial: St Luke's Junior School in Brighton has a rare example of a war memorial wall painting. Wall painting made up of six panels around a central arched window. The left two panels feature life sized figures of servicemen and women with family members set in a hill landscape with local features includign the Brighton Pavilion. On either side of the window are figures of St. George and Britannia, set in architectural nieces. The panel to the right shows a landscape with farm workers supporting the war effort, while the far right panel contains a memorial inscrioption framed in stylised laurels. Below the paintings, set into the wooden dado panelling are a series of panels with a list of the names of the dead.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
