About the memorial: The stone stands beside the statue of Lord Mountbatten. It bears the Kohima Epitaph, badges of the RN, RAF, Army and Merchant Navy, and a dedication to all who served in Burma and in SEAC. It was unveiled by Countess Mountbatten on 11 October 1998 and is alongside the statue of Lord Mountbatten (WMO 135697). Tablet mounted onto two sloping supports. Whole stands on an oval-shaped stone. Coloured crests in the four corners of the tablet and in the centre top Badge of the Royal Navy in the upper left hand corner of the tablet. Badge of the army in the upper right hand corner, badge of the RAF in the lower left hand corner and the badge of the Merchant Navy is in the lower right hand corner. Badge of the Burma Star Association in the centre at the top .

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
