About the memorial: Standing on the north side of the road, opposite the driveway to St. Andrew's Church.Commissioned by Lord Fisher of Kilverstone Hall. An Art Nouveau well-head of a square formed structure, the roof of pyramidal shape, surmounted by a metal egg-shaped device upon a short stand. The roof tiles are of wood, surrounded by metal guttering, which includes a water spout in the form of a fish mouth on the front face, enabling the water to fall into the trough below. The front face includes two marble tablets, the upper rectangular one bearing a sentance of prose, the lower one bearing the general commemoration and, listed by theatre of war, the names of 9 men who died in WW1. No ranks or units are listed. Below the memorial stone is a pentagonal trough with concrete platform, bisected by a water channel, and bordered by a deeper trough. Below, the outer wall contains an arch. All four walls of the memorial are arched and are adorned with edge-on tiles, the two side walls being recessed and containing a wooden bench seat. On the rear wall the arch extends to the floor and the internal void accessed by two metal gates, and reached by three steps.
