About the memorial: This is not a war memorial by WMO criteria but a CWGC Cemetery Marker. Location - situated at the bottom entrance to the Cemetery on Blacker Road approximately one mile from Huddersfield Town Centre and in close proximity to the Spinks Nest Public House. Description – a three tiered six sided monument with a tall cross The period commemorated is 1914 – 1919 and 1939 – 1945 The Inscription on the third tier reads: This cross of sacrifice is one in design and intention with those which have been set up in France and Belgium and other places throughout the World where our dead of the Great War are laid to rest THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE At the rear of the monument there is a walled area with five (5) plaques in the centre with a smaller plaque either side to the left and to the right Names and plaques Small left hand side plaque These Soldiers and this Airman lie buried in Emmanuel Churchyard Lockwood Private Harold Haigh West Yorkshire 30.12.1918 2nd Airmech H.
