Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.
Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.
If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.
The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.

with a memorial to Pte I Williams of the 7th Battalion Cheshire Regiment who died on the 2nd of September 1915 aged 24 and Ernest Williams - His full name was John James Ernest Williams. Pioneer WR/262386 John James Ernest WILLIAMS, Railway Transport Department, Royal Engineers died 25th November 1918 aged 29. He was the son of David and Eliza Ann of 45 Lawton Street, Congleton and brother of Isaac who also fell. He is commemorated on his parents memorial in St Stephens churchyard, Congleton and is buried in Terlincthun British Cemetery, Wimille, France He is also commemorated on the Congleton Cenotaph as J F Ernest Williams and his family named him as Ernest on the memorial in the churchyard In 1911 he was living with his parents at 23 Willow Street, Congleton and gave his occupation as a butcher. Some brief notes from his Service paper. He attested on the 23rd November 1916 and gave his address as 32, Bunyan Street, Liverpool and gave his occupation as a butcher. on the 28th November 1916 he signed his papers at the Technical School, Liverpool and left the Seaford Depot, East Sussex as Pioneer 218099 and then WR.262368 where he remained until 23rd December 1916 when he was posted to France. On the 25th November 1918 in France he died of Influenza at the 32nd Stationary Hospital, Wimereux .
