About the memorial: Inside the church, on the left hand wall of the nave.A tall, domed white marble tablet, upon a larger grey plaque, adorned with the Suffolk Regiment badge in relief, flanked around the edge with an ornate border depicting the Regiment's battle honours to 1902. Upon the centre are engraved the names of the 7 officers and 144 men of the 1st Bn, Suffolk Regt, who were killed in action, died of wounds or disease in South Africa. The names are arranged in rank order, and then alphgabetically within each rank, showing rank, surname and initials. On a small additional tablet below have been added a further 3 names.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
