About the memorial: Within the Suffolk Regiment Memorial Chapel, on the east wall, behind the altar curtain.A framed and glazed brass memorial plaque, etched in black, with some red lettering, and surmounted by the badge of the Suffolk Regiment in white metal, commemorating Captain R. M. Dowie, 3rd Bn, Suffolk Regiment, who died in South Africa 20th December, 1901, from wounds received near Vredefort on 17 December, 1901.
