About the memorial: Standing on the south eastern road verge, at the roundabout junction of the A1065 with the A134. A bronze crucifix, with brass ball ends, upon a small square platform surmounting a tall slender circular cloumn, upon a square, lipped plinth, which stands upon a two-tiered base. The memorial is apprached by a paved path. Upon the front (south) face is the general commemoration: To those of the Lynford Estate who fell gloroiusly for their country in the Great War 1914-1918. R.I.P. On the left (west) face are listed those of Mundford, listing 5 names who fell in WW1, 2 who fell in WW2 and one who fell since 1945 (who died as a result of operations in Northern Ireland). On the rear (north) face are listed those of West Tofts, 3 names, and of Cranwich, 4 names. On the right (east) face are listed those of Lynford, listing 6 names. On all faces the full first name and surnames are given, but without rank, unit, or date of death. (Note: Those listed under Cranwich are also listed in St. Mary's Church, Cranwich, and Reginald Baldry is also listed on a family gravestone in the churchyard.)

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

Before applying for a grant you should read the advice available on War Memorials Trust`s website. The What we can and cannot fund helpsheet explains what types of work the charity can fund.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.
