About the memorial: Standing on the north side of High Street, just a few yards west of St. Andrew's Church.A plain sandstone cross, standing upon a four-tier, graduated base, the upper three tiers surmounted by a lip edge. The upper tier bears the general commemoration and names of those who died in WW1. The front face bears the commemoration, and the other three faces each bear five lines, with two names per line, listing in roughly alphabetical order, with a single first name and surnames, the names of 30 Northwold men who died in WW1. No ranks, units or dates of death are given. Resting on the front of the lower tier is an additional tablet listing the names of 9 men who gave their lives in WW2. The whole memorial sits behind a metal railing with central gate, upon a flagged pavement in front of a semi-circular rear wall. In 2014 additional, polished granite, plaques were mounted on each of the lower faces, beneath the names of those who fell in WW1, with the names, which are carved in relief on the original memorial, duplicated in carved lettering below. On the front face a similar new granite plaque has been mounted commemorating the WW2 names, but this has been surmopunted on top of the original WW2 plaque.
