About the memorial: Memorial Court has 3 Rolls of Honour: World War I, World War II, World War II Merchant Navy and Fishing Fleet and Post 1945. The Memorial Court and Cowdray Hall is the City of Aberdeen's memorial to the fallen of both World Wars. Both were designed by Dr. A. Marshall Mackenzie and Son. The lion sculpture was designed by William MacMillan, A.R.A. It was sculpted in Kemnay granite by lead mason James Philip, assisted by George Cooper.
