About the memorial: Standing on the top of the wall on the edge of the churchyard of St. Wendrona, overlooking the B3297 road.A rough granite celtic wheel cross upon a square plinth standing on a square base. The front face contains the general commemoration for WW1. The other three faces contain the names of the fallen, giving surname first, followed by the first names and their residence location. The right face contains 10 names, the left face 13 names and the rear face 3 names of Wendron men, and a further 4 names of Pencoys men. The Wendron names follow an alphabetical sequence on each face, but not a consecutive sequence. No ranks, units or dates of death are given. On a wall at the rear of the cross is a granite tablet listing the names of 27 men who died in WW2, listed alphabetically by surname, including full first names, but with no ranks, units or residence locations.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.
