About the memorial: Just inside the entrance of the Church of St. Ia the Martyr, on the right hand wall.A wooden triptych memorial with decorated apex roof and a crucifix central within. On the inside of each of the folding double doors is a brass plaque, each listing 37 names (74 in total) of those who died in WW1; listed alphabetically by surname first, followed by first names, and where appropriate decorations. (Note: These names are also commemorated on the main memorial across the street (which lists 93 names). Those of Best, Arthur Harris; Hain, Edward; Hain E. Sidney; Hollow, John Crocker; James, James H; and McWilliams, Donald J, are also commemorated on family gravestones in the cemetery. Cocking, John Veal; and Pearce, Harvey, are also buried there). The lighting conditions are very poor.

Grants to support the repair and conservation of war memorials are available from the charity War Memorials Trust if it has raised funds. Support is focused on war memorials in Very bad or Poor condition or where there is a serious Concern.

If you believe your project is eligible for a grant you should complete the Pre-application enquiry form. You will need to be registered and logged in to complete this.

The Pre-application enquiry form is a series of questions to see if your project is eligible. If it is, you will need to provide further details and submit current colour photographs of the war memorial in either a png, gif, jpg or jpeg format.

You can save your Pre-application enquiry form as you go along. Once submitted War Memorials Trust will respond.
