About the memorial: An oak tablet dedicated in 1996, by the Archdeacon of Lewisham, and given by the East Wickham and Welling War Memorial Trust. The memorial encompasses the East Wickham War Memorial (located in the old church, which was given to the Greek Orthodox Church - WMO167799), the Welling War Memorial (located in the grounds of St John's Church, Welling - WMO144854) and replaces the East Wickham and Welling War Memorial which was located in the old Memorial Hall and lost in decades past. The Trustees took the opportunity when creating the new memorial to add a number of names that had previously been omitted.
