Can you help?

We would like to know the current location and condition of this memorial, or if it has been irretrievably lost. If you have information about the whereabouts or status of this war memorial, please add any relevant comments to this record. If appropriate, please also update the memorial’s location and address, add a condition update and photographs. Please note one volunteer has attempted to visit the building but it was closed. Local knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Status: On subsequent site(s)
Type: Non freestanding
Location: Internal
Setting: Inside a building - public/private
Description: Panelling
Materials:
  • Metal Metal (any)
  • Timber Timber (any)
Lettering: Inscribed on a plaque
Conflicts:
  • Second World War (1939-1945)
About the memorial: A metal plaque with crosses in top corners showing dedication (in Welsh) and names in white, uppercase, incised lettering. Four wooden panels in the organ casing originally located at Disgwylfa Chapel on London Road, Holyhead. The organ itself may be a war memorial but this has not been established. Two of the plaques list those who died and were supposed to have been relocated to Hyfrydle Chapel. The other two plaques list those who served and were supposed to have been left behind in Disgwylfa Chapel which was demolished in 2009 (so assume these plaques were lost). A visit to Hyfrydle Chapel in August 2013 was unable to establish if the two plaques listing those who died are present as the chapel was closed.
